ShoreBloc
ShoreBloc is a shoreline protection product designed to help defend sensitive ecosystems, banks, beaches, wildlife areas, and coastal environments from incoming waterborne hydrocarbon spills.
What Is ShoreBloc?
ShoreBloc is a specialized shoreline protection material designed to help reduce the impact of floating waterborne spills as they reach land. It is made from larger amorphous alumina silicate granules that trap, absorb, and encapsulate floating hydrocarbons as they make landfall.
Unlike general-purpose absorbents, ShoreBloc was created specifically for shoreline, bank, marsh, beach, and sensitive ecosystem defense. It is intended to provide a practical first line of protection where floating oil, fuel, or lubricants threaten land, wildlife, and marine habitats.
ShoreBloc EPA Approval Letter
For regulatory review, documentation, and customer confidence, the ShoreBloc EPA approval letter is available as a downloadable PDF. This provides supporting documentation for organizations evaluating ShoreBloc for shoreline protection and spill-response planning.
How ShoreBloc Works
ShoreBloc is deployed along the edge of water, shorelines, banks, or other vulnerable areas where floating hydrocarbons may make contact. As surf action, current, or water movement brings contamination toward land, ShoreBloc helps intercept and encapsulate the hydrocarbon material.
Its larger granule structure is designed to remain manageable while providing strong contact with floating oil and fuel. This makes ShoreBloc especially useful for heavy oils, crude oil, diesel, hydraulic fluids, marine out-drive lubricants, and other petroleum-based waterborne spills.
Built for the shoreline.
ShoreBloc gives responders a practical tool for protecting beaches, banks, wetlands, and sensitive wildlife areas before contamination spreads deeper into the environment.
When oil reaches shore, the damage can become immediate and lasting.
Floating hydrocarbon spills can quickly affect birds, marine life, wetlands, beaches, and shoreline ecosystems. ShoreBloc is designed to help responders act before contamination becomes embedded in sensitive areas where cleanup is harder, slower, and more destructive.
Wildlife & Ecosystem Protection
ShoreBloc is designed to help protect wading birds, marine life, and shoreline habitats from floating oil and fuel contamination. By intercepting hydrocarbons at the shoreline, it can help reduce the number of animals harmed by oil exposure and limit the spread of contamination into fragile ecosystems.
Because ShoreBloc is inert and contains no chemical additives, it is intended to provide environmental protection without introducing additional harmful ingredients into the affected area. It may also be used carefully in response efforts involving oil-contaminated fur or feathers, following appropriate wildlife response protocols.
Uses & Deployment Options
Loose Shoreline Deployment
ShoreBloc can be applied loosely in bulk along shores and banks, allowing natural surf and water movement to bring floating hydrocarbons into contact with the material.
Bagged Barrier Protection
ShoreBloc can be packed into reusable sandbag-style configurations for stacking, dyke building, and added protection against heavy surf or high water.
Large Spill Distribution
For rapid bulk application, ShoreBloc can be dispersed with land-based or floating air-driven hose or cannon equipment for controlled shoreline coverage.
Socks, Mats & Booms
ShoreBloc can be used with MolecuLoc spill-control configurations, including reusable socks, mats, and booms for added flexibility in complex spill conditions.
Why ShoreBloc Is Different
- Designed specifically for shoreline and sensitive ecosystem protection.
- Traps and encapsulates floating hydrocarbons as they make landfall.
- Effective for crude oil, diesel, heavy oils, fuels, hydraulic fluids, and marine lubricants.
- Inert material with no added chemical treatment.
- Can be deployed loose, bagged, bulk-dispersed, or used in spill-control products.
- Recoverable with conventional equipment after use.
- Available for quick response or large-scale spill events.
Recovery, Handling & Supply
ShoreBloc is designed for practical field use. It can be recovered for disposal with conventional equipment and does not require specialized machinery for deployment. This helps make it useful for both planned shoreline protection and urgent response situations.
ShoreBloc is available in bagged configurations for quick use, as well as 1,000 lb and 2,000 lb super sacks for major spill response. It can also be blended with other MolecuLoc spill-control products to suit specialized applications and field conditions.
For any floating spill that threatens land and wildlife, ShoreBloc is built to defend the edge.
Shorelines are where contamination becomes personal — where water meets land, where wildlife feeds and nests, and where communities see the impact first. ShoreBloc provides a practical, inert, and environmentally responsible response option designed to help protect those critical boundaries.
